Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 29, 2026
Albert Whitley Art Advisory ("we," "us," or "our") is an independent art advisory practice operated by Albert Whitley. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the site or submitting a form, you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
We collect only what you choose to give us:
- Contact details: your first and last name, email address, and, if you choose to provide it, your phone number.
- Your category: how you describe yourself in the form, such as collector, artist, gallery, or someone interested in the fellowship.
- Your message: anything you write to us in the form.
- Your consent: a record of whether you agreed to receive emails and, separately, text or WhatsApp messages from us, and when.
Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically log basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. We do not use advertising trackers on this site.
How we use your information
- To respond to your inquiries and start a conversation about art, collecting, or the fellowship.
- To send you occasional emails about artists, works, events, and the fellowship, but only if you agreed to receive them.
- To send you text or WhatsApp messages, including links or PDFs about art we think you may like, but only if you gave your phone number and agreed to receive them.
- To understand who is contacting us, so we can respond in a way that is relevant to you.
- To keep the site secure and prevent spam or misuse.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade our email list.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers who help us run the practice, and only as needed for them to do so. These include:
- An email marketing and contact management service, which stores your details and sends our emails.
- Messaging services, such as SMS providers or WhatsApp (operated by Meta), which carry the text or WhatsApp messages we send you.
- Our website hosting provider, which stores the site and its basic server logs.
These providers may process information in the United States or other countries. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
Email communications
You can unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the footer of any email we send. After you unsubscribe we will stop sending marketing emails, though we may still reply to messages you send us directly.
Text and WhatsApp messages
If you provide your mobile number and check the box agreeing to receive messages, you consent to receive text (SMS) and WhatsApp messages from Albert Whitley Art Advisory about artists, artworks, and related opportunities. These messages may include links or PDF files.
- Consent is optional. Agreeing to receive messages is not a condition of any purchase or of working with us. You can give us your number for other purposes without agreeing to marketing messages.
- Frequency: message frequency varies, and we aim to send only what is relevant to you.
- Costs: message and data rates may apply, depending on your carrier and plan.
- Opt out: reply STOP to any text message, or tell us on WhatsApp that you want to stop, and we will stop messaging you. Reply HELP for assistance.
We do not share mobile phone numbers, or text messaging consent, with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. We share numbers only with the messaging providers needed to deliver our messages, as described above.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as you remain on our list or as needed to respond to you and maintain our records. If you ask us to delete it, we will do so unless we are required to keep it by law.
Your choices and rights
You may ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it for email marketing. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or, for visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the GDPR, including the right to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will respond within the time required by law.
Cookies
Our sign-up form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA to prevent spam. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information, such as device and application data, and sends it to Google for analysis. Use of reCAPTCHA is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
This site does not currently use cookies for advertising or tracking. It stores one small item in your browser's local storage to remember that you closed or completed our “Stay in touch” sign-up window, so we do not show it to you again right away. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings. If we add analytics or similar tools in the future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including limiting access and using reputable service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Links to other sites
The site may link to third-party websites, such as galleries or artists. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
